Prompt Response:  I think retaining cultural food is important as I move forward. While I would say that food is the biggest part of my culture, there are a few traditions that I want to carry on. One is a fired scone. Twice a year as a part of my religion, the leaders of our church broadcast a devotional. On those days and only those days, my parents will make a fried scone. It is something that is important to me and that I want to continue.  Summary: Today in class, we finish our culture masks that represent us Reflection: I liked the creative assignment and drawing something that represents me. 

Prompt Response:  The most important aspect of my identity is being a genuine person. Faking a personality is wrong and weird. Being myself is just part of being me. Whether it is with someone I've never met or a long time friend, I always try to be myself. I don't want to give a different person to everyone I meet so being myself is very important.  Summary: Today we did a creative drawing about who we are and what things describe us. Reflection:  I really liked the class, it felt like it wasn't even a long class

Prompt Response:   If my privacy was invaded online I would feel mad. I wouldn't want someone to come into my privacy. I think that privacy should be a basic civil liberty. People should not be able to look at everyone else's personal life.  Summary: Today in class we read a new poem and did a worksheet on it Reflection:  The lesson had some interesting points about civil rights.

Prompt Response: Over break, I had an immutable schedule. I mainly did the same things: I would wake up, eat breakfast, and then get ready for the day. After that, I would play video games. I played so many video games over break that it was ignoble. When practice time came, I went to swim practice for two hours. But there was an impediment. My older brother went out of town and he was the one who drove us to practice. I had encouraged my parents to add me to the insurance so I could drive myself to practice. After practice, I would eat dinner and watch a movie with my siblings.     Summary: Today in class we worked on our vocab list and created a comic strip using each word Reflection:  I liked the class because it was not just defining words but a way to be creative.  

Prompt Response:  My American dream is the opportunity to build the life I want. I don't know what I want in the future, but I want the opportunity to pursue and make it happen. I like that America has rights and opportunities that most don't. I also like that it is a place of opportunities and that the bottom can still be successful.  Summary: Today in class, we studied Langston Hughes's "Let America Be America Again." After the lesson, we started a project on the American dream.  Reflection: I thought it was cool talking about the American dream and what we thought it was.  

  Prompt Response:   A time when someone offended me was when I was when my dad called me lazy. I am a hard-working individual, and when someone calls me lazy, it feels like they are discrediting what I do to achieve my goals. My dad was in a bad mood, and I know he didn't mean to do it, but it really hurt because my own father said it.  Summary: Today in class, we read a poem that discussed themes that words have power and did a short worksheet about it.  Reflection: I thought that the lesson and poem had a good theme about what we say to other people. It was a good reminder to me just to be more kind to other people. 

Prompt Respon se:  I think a life skill I have learned in high school is problem-solving. I think that it is a good skill  I have learned that will help me live independently after high school. While I might never use the specific math I learned in high school it builds my brain to problem solve. I think that that is an important skill to have so that you can look at a problem clearly and find a solution.  Summary: Today in class we had a sub so we completed a newsela about whether the Bill of Rights should be updated.  Reflection:  The class was simple just to read the article and answer some multiple choice questions and a writing prompt.
