How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on?

Prompt Response:  Usually, when I have a lot going on, it is because there are things I have planned and look forward to. But a busy day can still feel overwhelming and distract you from the little pleasures in life. Three things I do to enjoy the small things are to stop and take a deep breath outside and enjoy the weather and the outdoors, to be kind, and to always be grateful for everything.   Summary: Today in class, we had an assignment on NEWSela  Reflection: I thought the article had a good message to watch out for fake information and not believe everything you see online. 

Now that you have completed your sensory presentation, reflect on which of the five senses you value most.

Prompt Response:  While I like all the senses, the one I value the most is sight. I value sight the most because it allows me to experience life. It allows me to experience color and light. It allows me to see my loved ones and the beautiful things in life. While all the senses are very important, I value my sight the most.  Summary: Today in class, we had an assignment on common lit.  Reflection: I thought the article was interesting in the idea that there are three types of friendships. 

What holiday do you look forward to the most each year, and why is it your favorite?

Prompt Response:  The holiday I look forward to is Christmas. Not only do I love the holiday but I love the season of Christmas. Christmas is my favorite because I get to spend time with family and friends, eat great food, give a lot and receive a lot. What I usually do to celebrate is to share the light of christ with others. As a family we have fun traditions as well as traditions focused on christ. Christmas morning we always have cinnamon roles then we would open presents. That is why Chistmas is my favorite.  Summary: Today in class, we worked on our sensory presentation.  Reflection:  I liked having time in class to work on the presentation so I don't have to work on it at home. 

Choose one item from your "So Much Depends Upon" list and imagine it could talk

Prompt Response:  An item from my list was my swim goggles. It would tell about the hard practices we have been through. It would tell me about the way I treat it. That I should take better care of something I use every day. The goggles would talk about being in my swim bag for most of the time. How it is cramped and dark in there.  Summary: Today in class, we read a poem and started a presentation. Reflection: I liked the poem's theme that small things can be essential in someone's life. 

Write about a book, poem, or article you’ve read that made you feel something deeply

  Prompt Response:   A book that made me feel deeply was "The Sunrise on the Reaping." The book made me feel sad. In the book, a previous character in past books was revealed to have a son. His son was put in the games as a way to punish him. I felt bad for him and his son Ampert who died of mutations that ate him alive. That was a moment in the book that really made me feel deeply sad. Summary:  Today in class we did a common lit assignment to help prepare us for the EOC.  Reflection: I thought that the practice was useful and I thought that the passage was interesting. 

What I did over spring break.

  Prompt Response:   I had a peaceful spring break. Monday and Teusday were the most calm I slept in and just stayed at my house relaxing and playing video games. Wensday my mom want to take my family back down to a strawberry farm in macon were we use to live. So on Wensday we went stawberry picking. On thursday we spent the day at six flags. And and on friday I just chilled to the house playing basketball in our  cul de sac. That was my spring break and I enjoyed it.    Summary: Today in class we did multiple-choice practice for the EOC. Reflection: I thought the practice helped me practice and review past material. 

If you could plan the perfect spring break with no limitation, money, time, or responsibilities—what would it look like?

  Prompt Response:  If I could plan the perfect spring break with no limitations I would plan another trip to Hawaii. My family went a couple of years ago and I would plan to go there. We would leave early on Monday morning and spend the whole day traveling because it takes a while to fly out. The rest of the week we would travel all the islands and not just stay on one. We would eat lots of great food and enjoy being with each other.  Summary: Today in class the internet was not working so we just relaxed in class.  Reflection:  I liked relaxing before the break.

Describe a real moment in your life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story.

  Prompt Response:  A moment in my life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story is when I went under fifty seconds in the one-hundred-yard freestyle. It felt like the beginning of a story because this was the last swim meet of the short course season. For at least half of the season, I was out due to pneumonia. This really hurt my mentality because I was really dedicated to swimming to drop time. But I finally dropped time at the last meet and it felt like the start of a new story where I am getting faster and faster.  Summary: Today in class we did EOC prep for the upcoming EOC.  Reflection:  I thought that the prep helped boost my confidence for the test.   

Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss.

Prompt Response:  Something I have outgrown but still miss is all the TV shows I watched as a kid. Now that I am growing up I have more responsibilities and activities and I have less time to just sit down at watch a cartoon or a show that I want. I miss just having a day where I can watch shows all day and not have to worry about anything.  Summary: Today in class we did lesson 15 vocabulary visual representation.  Reflection: The presentation was a good way to understand the vocabulary better. 

Share your personal tips for preparing for major exams.

Prompt Response:  When I prepare for major exams I like to first see what the material I will be tested on. Then I'll find my notes on that topic and If I didn't take notes I'll watch a video and take notes on that. After looking over my notes I like to quiz myself without using the notes to see what I need to work on. And last I make sure to get plenty of sleep to prepare myself. I also study in increments of 30 minutes so I don't get burnt out and I can stay productive for the longest I can.  Summary: Today in class we looked at a passage and did practice for the end-of-course exam  Reflection:  I thought that the practice helped me see that when reading, I should summarize each paragraph in my head to help me better understand the passage. 

What do you think is the hardest part of writing an informational essay?

  Prompt Response:   I think that the hardest part of writing an informational essay is organizing my thoughts. Unlike other essays, informational essays are mostly giving information you just have to present it interestingly so you don't have to worry about what you are going to write about. Something I will do is to practice organizing so when the time comes I will feel and be prepared.  Summary: Today in class we had some assignments on writable on informational essays.  Reflection: I thought the assignment was important to gauge how much I already know and what I need to work on. 

Do you think these experiences are real, spiritual, scientific, or something else?

Prompt Response:  These experiences are real, although it doesn't make much scientific sense I believe that there is also a spiritual aspect to them. In the passage, it talked about all people around the world having these experiences and you can't say that it is not real when you have people who don't believe in a deity say they have experience.  Summary: Today we went over a passage about near-death experiences and answered questions about the informational text Reflection: I thought that the article was interesting and I liked learning about something I didn't really know anything about

Discuss how mastering precise vocabulary can impact your daily communication and academic success.

Prompt Response:  Mastering precise vocabulary can greatly impact communication and academic success. Having a wide vocabulary can allow you to convey your point across and also can help someone not sound boring or repetitive. This can be important in academic success to better write essays and help better understand passages.  Summary: Today in class we worked on the vocab lesson 14 assignment.  Reflection: The vocabulary was simple and I had some prior knowledge of some words. 

When you become an adult, which lifestyle do you think you would prefer—city life or suburban life?

Prompt Response:  When I become an adult I think I would prefer suburban life. I think this because suburban life offers more space to live in. After all, you can live in a house. Rather than living in the city where you have to live in an apartment. Suburban living can also provide a yard and a safer environment to live in.  Summary: Today in class we read an article on common lit and answered some questions Reflection: I thought that the article was interesting and had an interesting point to make. 

Based on the two informational passages that you've read thus far this week, write about how you personally strive to avoid student loan debt?

Prompt Response:  Based on the two informational passages that I have read this week on student debt, there are a few things I plan to do to avoid them. One thing I strive to do is to work towards a scholarship to help pay or to completely pay for college. I am working towards athletic and academic scholarships to increase my chances of getting one. Another thing that I can do is to look at the college and see what kind of programs they have versus another local college that would give me the same education for less money.  Summary: Today in class we read an article on student debt and answered questions about the article.  Reflection: I thought that class was important as a student to know about student loan debt since it will not be long before I graduate. 

When you shop, do you check where products come from?

Prompt Response:  When I shop, I don't look where the product was made. It doesn't matter to me where a product is made as long as the quality of the product is great. I wouldn't pay extra for something made in the United States because if I'm comparing to products I'm only looking at price and quality to make my decision.  Summary: Today in class we read an article and anwserd questions and did a writing prompt on it.  Reflection:  I liked the simple assignment on a Friday because I was really tired. 

Write about a time when your failure was necessary for your growth.

Prompt Response:  A time when my failure was necessary for my growth was not getting a time cut. I was going for a best time and a swim time cut but I fell short. I was really upset and I am really harsh on myself so I chewed myself out. But without that race I wouldn't have realized a critical mistake I was making that was making me slow. With the help of my coach, I am working to improve the skill so that the next opportunity I have to race I will be prepared.  Summary: Today in class we took a benchmark test. Reflection:  I don't really like tests but it wasn't long so I don't have too many complaints. 

What lessons can you learn from their journey?

  Prompt Response:  The lesson I learned while looking at this is hard work. It is a theme through out successful people and you can't avoid it if you want to achieve your dream. I can't be scared to put in work, it is what separates the good from great. You can be however talented you are, but without hardwork  it doesn't mean anything.  Summary: Today in class we read a poem and did a worksheet on goals  Reflection:  I thought that it was a good class, showing that you shouldn't put off your dreams and goals but just do it. 

Choose a word from Vocabulary Lesson 12.

Prompt Response:   Macroscopic mean visible to the naked eye. I first heard the word back in elementary science. I was doing a lab talking about microscopic objects and using microscopes to see them. Then we talked about the opposite side of this, which is macroscopic. The lab helped me better understand the meaning with the help of the microscopes, showing that there are some things I can see without tools, and things I can only see with tools like a microscope.  Summary: Today in class we started vocabulary lesson 12, writing sentences and answering questions. Reflection:  I thought that the assignment was good for a Monday after daylight savings 

Which time do you prefer the most and why, Daylight Savings Time or Standard Time?

Prompt Response:  I prefer standard time better. Even though we lose an hour of sleep, the days are longer. I like longer days because there is more time to do things during the day. I also like having the sun up longer instead of having the sun set around 7. I also like the routine of standard time better, I feel as if I am more rested when I lose an hour of sleep rather than gaining one.  Summary:  Today we had a virtual learning day so our assignment was to complete a NEWSela.  Reflection:  I like that the assignment was simple and straight forward.
